From ideas to sketches to screen-printing 101, these young creatives brought their creativity to life and conquered the process of making something start to finish with pride.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

It started with a workshop. Malia Alford, Kalaan Scott, India Johnson, and Alex \u201cDonnie\u201d Isaac joined the Shinola team for a brainstorming session.<\/span><\/p>\n

Together, they crafted their message, honed their quotes, and channeled their pride into a final design.<\/span><\/p>\n

Soft Goods Detroit, a transparent and ethical textile manufacturer in the city (and the sewers of our heavenly sweatshirts) donated their time and equipment to help us create limited-edition totes with the Ruth Ellis Center Youth Advisory Board design. We\u2019re grateful to always be able to count on our friends in this city.<\/span><\/p>\n

While the totes were sent out to stores across the nation, Shinola Senior Designer Madelyn O. set up a one-on-one screen-printing workshop with the Ruth Ellis Center\u2019s young artists, where they conquered the craft with skill and style.<\/span><\/p>\n

For the Shinola family, nothing is sweeter than seeing our commitment, creativity, and hard work brought to life with a personal touch. So Shinola Ambassador, poet, and LGBTQIA+ activist Natasha T. Miller met our artists at the Canfield Shinola store for a special gift.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>
\n <\/p>\n

Of all the things we can give, gratitude is the greatest of them. As thanks for their creative energy and output, our artists got to take home a Pride Detrola and tote to commemorate a job well done. We couldn\u2019t be prouder of them.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Totes are exclusively at Shinola retail locations\u2014and they\u2019re part of our pledge of $120,000 to the Ruth Ellis Center and SAGE, our Pride partners this year. T-shirts are available for Shinola retail employees to wear during Pride month and beyond.<\/span><\/p>\n
