Glasgow is the biggest city in Scotland and one of the most up-and-coming places to live and visit in Europe. We asked lifestyle blogger John Robertson from The Everyday Man to style a few of his favorite products for his Scottish urban lifestyle. “I’ve lived here all of my life, and I don’t think I will ever move away,” says John. “I have so much love for the city of Glasgow.”
Ever since Shinola launched in the UK a few years ago, John has been interested in collaborating with the American brand in some way. “The products from Shinola appeal to me as they are simple, well-made and timeless — a few things that I always look out for when I’m investing in a new product,” he says.
John says Glasgow is a creative hub that’s famous worldwide for its live music scene and home of the friendliest people you’ll encounter anywhere. His decision to pursue blogging, writing and styling full-time happened as a natural evolution, and started with him simply doing what he loved.
“I started writing The Everyday Man around five or six years ago as a way for me to document some of my favorite things, brands, and places,” John says. “In the beginning it was just a bit of fun, a hobby really, but over time it’s become my full-time job.”

“The Runwell Backpack in spruce was my favorite item. Often I set up office in a coffee shop or co-working space, so a good backpack is an essential for me to carry around all of my tools: laptop, camera, notebook, etc.,” John says. “This is the perfect size and had enough pockets to keep everything that I needed safe. It’s a beautiful looking bag too, and one that I know would look better as it ages.”

John likes to walk through Glasgow Green Park for inspiration and he jots down ideas in his Runwell Planner, an essential tool to help him meet deadlines. He also uses The Canfield 43mm to keep track of time as he strolls through the 136-acre park, one of the city’s oldest and most beautiful public spaces.

John relies on his phone to produce fresh content when he’s on the go. “The leather wrapped phone case and square bifold wallet are two items I continuously reach for. The spruce and burgundy leather colors really pop.”

John frequently creates a makeshift office inside Hutchesons. “As much as I reply on my computer and phone for work, I do like to keep a journal too,” he says. “I find when I travel it is a great way to jot down ideas for pitches and projects.
